After 5 and a half years together, a home and a daughter, we did it! It wasn’t the wedding we had been planning for the last 2 plus years but, it was the perfect day to marry my Mr Onuchi.
We had our original wedding date booked for the 25th of July 2020, a large gathering of 150 people at the Woodhouse barn in my home county, Pembrokeshire, South Wales. Almost as soon as 2020 hit, we could see it was getting more and more likely it would need to be postponed. When exactly the decision was made I can’t place but, I remember feeling a sense of relief that we could just sit back (for now at least) and wait for a wedding party next year. We honestly just wanted to get through this crazy time like the rest of the world.
We felt it was important however, for us to uphold our plans to legally tie the knot in 2020, binding as a couple and as a family of 3, so, as soon as we were able to, following government guidelines we booked in a new date.
SEPTEMBER 8th 2020
We walked together down an aisle towards our masked parents and little munchkin to make our vows to one another. Our Mums acted as witnesses and we had our ‘wedding breakfast’ outside at Bill’s, the 7 of us spread across 2 socially distanced tables. Hopefully all our original wedding plans can come to life next year and we can celebrate with lots of family and friends but, today we have this memory and it was lovely.
